Opportunities to Serve

Opportunities to Serve

Just as the Lord leads us to join ourselves with a local body of believers...

...he also leads each one of us to use our gifts and resources to serve there. As you consider how you might serve here in this place, the following is just a sampling of some ways to do that.

Fellowship on the Lawn (summer months)

One of the beautiful outcomes of attending Sunday worship services is being able to spend time with other people. After our summer worship services, cookies and drinks are set up outside on the lawn so that we can converse with one another - catching up and meeting new people - before leaving church. YOU CAN VOLUNTEER TO provide treats and/or take care of the set up, serving of refreshments, and take down of tables.

For more details, contact Judy White - jwhite@crcsj.org.

Soup Kitchen

Our church serves at the Soup Kitchen on the 3rd Thursday of each month. All that is required to volunteer is the desire to serve, and anyone attending our church is welcome to help! Youth ages 12 - 18 can participate with their parent. Needed are:

BAKERS - We always provide brownies along with the meal. These can be baked and placed in the church's freezer ahead of time.

SERVERS - From 10:45 am - 1:00 pm to assist with putting the food on diners' trays.

TWO COOKS - From 9:15 am - 1:00 pm to prepare the food.

Sunday Morning Nursery

Serving both parents and their young children by lovingly caring for the littlest ones in our church family (newborn - 3 1/2 years old) and allowing mom and dad to more fully engage in the worship service. Nursery helpers are on duty from 10 minutes before the 9:30 am worship service until the last child is picked up by parents. Volunteers are typically scheduled for one Sunday every 2 - 3 months. VOLUNTEERING FOR NURSERY HAS THESE REQUIREMENTS:

ADULT VOLUNTEERS (18 and older, including high school students who have turned 18) must be approved through the church's Youth Safety Policy. They also must have regularly attend the church for at least 6 months.

YOUTH HELPERS must be 11 - 18 years old, regularly attend our church, and have parental permission.

For more details and to sign up, contact the church office - office@crcsj.org.

Children's Story Time

Partway through our worship services, children ages 3 1/2 through 2nd grade are invited to their own special Bible story time downstairs. This takes place during the sermon, and the children rejoin the worship service before it ends. One adult helper is needed each Sunday to assist the leader in keeping the children attentive and interacting with them. VOLUNTEERING FOR CHILDREN'S STORY TIME HAS THESE REQUIREMENTS:

ADULT VOLUNTEERS (18 and older, including high school students who have turned 18) must be approved through the church's Youth Safety Policy. They also must have regularly attend the church for at least 6 months.
